Wall Murals
and large scale projects
Johnstown, PA - B&L Wine Cellars - Located at 900 Broad Street in Johnstown, this interior wall mural was completed in early 2013. It depicts a relaxing scene in Tuscany. The wall measures about 12 foot by 20 foot. See it on Youtube.
Painting the Tree House Murals - Here is a closer view of two of the wall murals being painted on the Castle Tree House above. Each is about 4 foot by 7 foot. See it on Youtube.
Ligonier, PA - The Castle Tree House - Located in Ligonier, PA, this incredible structure stands nearly 36 feet tall and was built of plywood and includes a spiral staircase and a zipline. It took about seven weeks for me to handpaint the stone effects, the wood grains, and the 3 murals. I completed this project in 2012. See it on Youtube.
Las Vegas, NV - ConExpo - This is done for the 'Olympics of the construction industry, a convention held every three years in Las Vegas. I constructed the first display for this event in 2002, then 2005, 2008, and once more in 2011. The structure is built out of 2 X 4's for stability. The wall structures are formed using styrofoam and is to represent a building that is being demolished. Laquer thinner is splattered on it to melt the styrofoam which gives it the concrete block look. I use a zolotone paint for the speckled texture effect and finish up with darks and browns for the weathered look. This structure is 20 feet by 80 feet by 14 feet tall. It takes me about 4 to 5 months to complete. I've been approached by display houses in Vegas who thought I own a company that make these custom displays; however, I get to do this as part of my everyday job. We also raise this structure for a Halloween extravaganza each year. I'll be buiding a new one for the next show in March 2014. See it on Youtube.
Johnstown, PA - Conemaugh Valley High School - This is a project I do for the local hometown team. I cut the stencil guides for this project out of 20 foot wide plastic sheeting in my back yard. The sports boosters assist me in stretching the stencils and painting the design across the fifty yard line and in the end zones. As you can imagine, this isn't a one time job. The paint has to be reapplied several times during the year. Once the initial pattern has been painted on, the boosters are able to maintain it throughout the rest of the season.
Las Vegas, NV - ConExpo - The Kenco display from the 2014 and 2017 Conexpo were once again grand achievements. Each was chosen as the most unique display of the events out of nearly 2500 other exhibitors. Measuring 20 feet wide, 80 feet long, and 16 feet high, and made out of styrofoam painted to look like brick and concrete block. I began work on it in October 2013 and finished it in February 2014. It was modified for the 2017 show. See it on Youtube.
