Artist Dan Helsel with his award winning "Season's Greetings"
Dan paints on oil primed linen canvas and prepares his own panels from Gesso using a Renaissance formula. He has won several awards with local art associations and was one of three Artists to exhibit at the Greensburg Art Association in Greensburg Pa., A two Artist exhibit at The Bottle Works in Johnstown Pa, and has had solo exhibitions at the Wolf -Kuhn Gallery at Mt Aloysius College in Cresson Pa., Bedford Art Association in Bedford, Pa.; S. Gerald Weaver Gallery located at The Village At Morrison Cove in Martinsburg Pa., Blair County Arts Foundation in Altoona, Pa.; The Goldhaber - Fend Fine Arts Gallery at the Community Arts Center in Johnstown, Pa.; the Jenner Art Gallery at the Mountain Playhouse in Jennerstown, Pa.; Garrett County Arts in Oakland, Md. in 2010 And Laurel Arts Center Somerset Pa in 2011.
Dan taught still life classes at the Community Arts Center in Johnstown, Pa., at the Bedford County Arts Center in Bedford Pa ., and at Garrett Arts in Oakland, Maryland.
Dan has demonstrated his talents for the Pennsylvania Artists Professional Association, Ebensburg Pa, Somerset County Artists Association, Somerset, Pa., and the Bottleworks Ethnic Arts Center in Johnstown Pa.
He is represented by Camellia Art Hilton Head Island in South Carolina , Sheldon Fine Arts of New Port, Rhode Island and Garrett Arts in Oakland, Maryland.

Dan Helsel resides in Davidsville Pa. and started painting in 1995 after retiring from business. He enjoys painting in the Old Masters Style , such as the works of Chardin, Vermeer, Rembrandt and Velazquez. He feels they have lasting quality and beauty. Dan works with actual setups in the studio not from photographs. His paintings can be found throughout the United States, and have been purchased by Mt Aloysius College, Community Arts Center, and Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art.
He studied at The Sulkowski Academy Of Fine Art in Canonsburg Pa , studying
texture of silver, brass, gold, glass and porcelain. Dan has studied in workshops with James Sulkowski in Maine, South Carolina, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, Tom Nicholis NA in Maine, and T.M. Nicholis in Vermont.
